Q: Why 18 Rabbits?

It all began at my childhood home where two rabbits fell in love in the backyard and Mom taught me the importance of making food with integrity. I handcraft each 18 Rabbits recipe in my San Francisco kitchen using whole ingredients from farmers I know and sources I trust. Together we can make a powerful impact in transforming our bodies, our communities, and our planet. —Alison

Q: Are 18 Rabbits Jr. Bars nut free?

18 Rabbits Jr. Bars are made without nut ingredients, and are safe for "nut-free" schools. The Jr. Bars are made in a facility that also uses peanuts and tree nuts. We work closely with our bakery and follow good manufacturing practices to validate all statements, including a full 8-hour allergen clean, batch testing and segregation of ingredients. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to our Customer Care at [email protected].

Q: Can I eat 18 Rabbits if I have a wheat allergy?
There are no wheat or wheat derivatives in any of the ingredients used in 18 Rabbits products.

Q: Is 18 Rabbits safe for people who can’t eat gluten?
All 18 Rabbits granola and bars contain oats. 18 Rabbits granola bars (1.6oz and 1.05oz) are all GLUTEN FREE. 18 Rabbits granola is made without wheat ingredients, but is not gluten free. While oats do not contain gluten, we use certified organic oats which may have been milled on the same equipment as wheat.

Q: What is the fat in 18 Rabbits? Can I eat it if I’m trying to lose weight?
Our granola contains unsaturated fat, the ‘good for you’ or ’healthy fats’. We like to call it “happy fat.” Unsaturated fat has several nutritional benefits, including the ability to decrease cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat found in 18 Rabbits granola comes from organic, unsweetened coconut, which actually helps raise levels of good cholesterol. Diets high in “happy fats” have proven to be successful in helping to achieve and maintain healthy weight. Additionally, 18 Rabbits foods are high in fiber and protein. Foods high in fiber and protein are satiating, which means they can help keep your cravings under control. Remember that unhealthy snacks containing refined sugars and carbohydrates can cause spikes in blood sugar levels and lead to additional cravings.

Q: I need to watch my sugar intake. Can I still eat 18 Rabbits granola and bars?
Our granola is sweetened with a just a few grams of maple syrup and honey, which are natural unrefined sugars. Unrefined sugars are less processed than refined sugars, so they have less impact on blood sugar levels. As far as total sugar content, 18 Rabbits has less sugar per serving than any other granola on the market, making it a great choice if you are watching your sugar intake. Our recipes were developed with a diabetic consultant and were created to be diabetic-friendly.

Q: Are 18 Rabbits bars energy bars?

They are not like the conventional energy bars you see today- many of which contain additives and fillers to drive a nutrition panel such as whey protein isolate and soy protein isolate (often unpronounceable) “magic” ingredients. Our granola bars provide sustenance and wholesome energy with fiber, protein and healthy fat. We believe in the power of holistic energy that comes from eating real, whole foods with simple and nourishing ingredients.

Q: Are your products sulfur dioxide free?
Yes, 18 Rabbits foods are free of sulfur dioxide. Sulfur dioxide preserves the color in fruit– it’s what keeps dried apricots orange. It is also a toxin, and our bodies often have difficulty processing it. The fruit in all of our products is free of sulfur dioxide. In fact, any food that is certified organic must NOT contain fruit treated with sulfur dioxide.

Q: Are your foods non-GMO?
Yes, 18 Rabbits foods are non-GMO! We believe that you are what you eat, so eating pure, natural foods is imperative to living a healthy lifestyle. GMO is the abbreviation for genetically modified organisms. GMO seeds, and the foods that are grown from them, have been artificially manipulated and therefore are not sustainable.
Food that is certified organic cannot contain GMOs.
